Every account and chat on Telegram has a numeric ID. IDs are safer to share than phone numbers and remain constant when usernames change. Many verification and anti‑impersonation workflows rely on matching these IDs.
You can retrieve your ID or a chat’s ID via admin tools or helper bots. Channels and groups use different ID ranges; some client tools display negative IDs for chats.
